Cartridge Replacement Of Hot And Cold Water Faucet

1. Prepare the tools and parts.

Firstly, buy a new cartridge of the same cartridge type. Normally, which brand of faucet you use, go to the store of this brand to buy the cartridge. After purchasing the cartridge, prepare a flat-blade screwdriver or Phillips screwdriver, or an Allen wrench, which should be selected according to the screws of your faucet. Then prepare a needle nose pliers, and a knife.

2. Remove Hot and Cold Button

Before replacing the cartridge, you need to find the water source switch of this faucet, and turn it off to avoid spraying water during replacement. Then find the cold and hot button, which may be a small plastic cap, and gently pry it off with a small blade, so that you can see the screws inside.

3. Remove the Handle

After open the hot and cold button, check the shape of the screw and remove the screw in the hole with a screwdriver, and then you can remove the handle of the faucet.

4. Unload the Cartridge

After removing the handle, you can see the cartridge inside, and some cartridge have a fixed shell cover on the outside, just remove the cover. Then you can see the clamp that fixes the cartridge. Generally, there are four claws on the clamp. Use the two sides of the needle nose pliers to clamp the two claws, and then rotate clockwise to remove the clamp.

5. Installation

After removing the clamp, you can remove the broken cartridge, then install the new cartridge. Reverse the previous process, and reinstall the other components. After installing the faucet handle, turn on the water source valve to see if there is water leakage. If there is no problem, lock the handle, and install the hot and cold plastic caps. And that's done!
